SAMUEL ALTMAN

ALTMAN--Samuel D. Samuel D. Altman, age 92, died peacefully at home in New York on September 20, 2022 from natural causes. He is survived by his beloved sister, Joy Altman Henshel, beloved nieces Dayle, Patti, Diane and Judy Henshel, grandnieces and nephew Artemis, Ariel, Tasha, and Jaron, and great-grandniece Eloise. He is also survived by a family of many dear friends who already miss him. Sam lost his adored partner of more than 45 years Murray Shapiro, 25 years ago. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, an MBA from Harvard University, and had a long successful career at Sears and Montgomery Ward. Among his favorite activities were travelling to exotic locales with friends - and always making more friends along the way, going to as much theater as he could squeeze in, devotedly volunteering with Broadway Cares, and sharing meals and parties with good friends. Sam and Murray loved to entertain at their charming, rustic country home in Brewster, NY. A private memorial was held on October 7, 2022.
