SAMUEL SILLING Obituary
Our dear friend Sam passed away on January 24, 2018, at 91. Born and raised in the Bronx, Sam joined the navy as a teenager and after college became a librarian. He held that role at Brooklyn Tech High School until retirement, inspiring students with the love of words and reading that endured throughout his life. Sam was devoted to his brother David and his life partner Curtis Lyles, both of whom predeceased him. We will miss our loving, caring, gregarious and insightful friend, who easily and generously shared joy and tears with those he loved. The Ranghelli Family

As a BTHS student in the early 1970s. Mr. Silling took a small group of students, including my husband and I, to an opera after which we had the pleasure of meeting Leontyne Price. We've never forgotten this. Debra Johnson Lamb
