SANDRA MEYER

MEYER--Sandra R. Weill Cornell Medicine is deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend, colleague and devoted Board of Fellows member Sandra Meyer. Sandy, who inspired many with her passion for helping those less fortunate, joined the board in 2014. Together with her late husband, Edward, she made a landmark gift in 2013 to expand and enhance Weill Cornell Medicine's cancer research and care programs by establishing the Sandra and Edward Meyer Cancer Center. The couple also endowed the Sandra and Edward Meyer Professorship of Cancer Research, and Sandy served with distinction on the Meyer Cancer Center subcommittee. Extraordinarily generous with her philanthropy and spirit, Sandy served as director for the Group for the East End, a Long Island land conservation organization; was a major supporter of Women for Women International, an organization that helps women move from crisis and poverty to stability and self- sufficiency; served on the Women and Foreign Policy Advisory Council of the Council on Foreign Relations; and served as a board member of the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival. Ed and Sandy were also generous benefactors of Cornell University, Ed's alma mater, as well as passionate supporters of the arts in New York City, including the Guggenheim Museum and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. We will greatly miss Sandy's kindness and compassion, her passion for breakthrough research, and her unwavering support of those with difficulties in their lives.
