SCOTT AMRHEIN Obituary

AMRHEIN--Scott. Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA) and the Continuing Care Leadership Coalition (CCLC) are deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved colleague and friend Scott Amrhein. As CCLC's longtime President, Scott was a cherished member of the GNYHA family and a highly respected leader of the long-term care community. Far more important, he was kind, thoughtful, and caring, and a loving husband and father. No one cared more passionately for those in need of long-term care services. His memory is already a blessing. We send our deepest condolences to Scott's wife Karen, his children Lauren and Justin, and his many friends and colleagues. We will miss him dearly. Kenneth E. Raske, President, GNYHA; Emma DeVito, President and CEO, VillageCare

I was dumbfounded when I heard the belated sad news of Scott's passing. He was a friend from church here in Westchester. He was supportive and helpful when my life was in a bind, even though he barely knew me. He was always this ray of sunshine when he was at the church events.....I am just devastated.....Rest in Peace, Scott.....

Scott was one of the unsung heroes of Hurricane Sandy, essentially living in the NYC bunker for weeks to ensure vulnerable seniors were cared for. His service to the people of NY was then as it has always been diligent, unassuming, and incredibly impactful.

I cannot begin to express how sad we are at hearing this news of losing Scott. Members of the same community church over the years, Scott smile blazed a room, with his sharp, darting ideas, and consistent message of optimism and hope. A beloved man. So grateful to have gotten the time we did with this special soul. Grateful for him, Karen and their family.

I worked with Scott for nearly a decade, and always found him to be trustworthy, generous, and kind. He was so dedicated to his work, but made it clear that his family was his #1 priority. I am so very sorry for your loss -- what a loss it is.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Scott's passing this week. At the same time we feel blessed that we and our daughter were able to make the trip to NYC and to visit in February. Craig and Scott being friends since 5th grade, but eventually moving away and lost touch - it was so good to reconnect after 30+ years. Karen, Lauren, Justin - You are in our thoughts and prayers. Our hearts are broken but may the Lord ease your pain and sorrow. We love you and will reach out to you soon.
