My mother Shirley was proud to be a graduate of Parsons School of Design in 1949. She became a women's shoe and handbag designer for several Manhattan firms. She met her husband Bob Grannis on a blind date at the Plaza Hotel. She loved living in New York City in the 1950's and had her first son there in 1951 before they moved to Spokane, WA.
