SIDNEY REIFF

REIFF--Sidney, age 95, passed away peacefully in California on February 22. He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 68 years Renee, and three adoring children, Isabel (Lee), Kenneth (Angela), and Russell (Anna) and grandchildren, Sam, Faye, Matthew, Elizabeth, Sophia, and Alexis. Sidney is also survived and fondly remembered by nephews, nieces, friends, classmates, and colleagues. A loving and involved father, Sidney will be remembered for his intelligence, integrity, steadfastness, humor, and engagement in all aspects of life. The first member of his family born in the U.S., Sidney was born in 1918 in Brooklyn, NY to Israel and Yetta Reiff. He graduated from NYU Washington Square ('38) and Medical School ('42). He was a lifelong proud alumnus, attending reunions regularly, as recently as 2012, and proudly wore his NYU hat until the last days of his life. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in the Pacific during WWII. He practiced internal medicine in New York City and was on the staff of the Brooklyn Jewish Hospital. Fulfilling a dream from his WWII return into San Francisco Bay, in 1971 he moved to Los Angeles where he practiced medicine at Kaiser Permanente until his retirement in 1993. Post retirement he volunteered at the Venice Family Clinic. We will love and miss him always. Services 12 noon, Sunday, March 2 at Hillside Mortuary, Los Angeles 800-576-1994.
