Although we didn't see much of you, only 3000 miles away, you have always been in my heart....since school and early days in New York. You thrived and flew in your career and always seemed to keep a good balance of things in life.
Missing you already, only days after you left. Here's strength to your young and all best wishes for the happy memories.
I will miss our erratic friendship ! with love to your family

Brent, Montgomery and Varick -- Your mother and sister Sidney is a true giant in the dachshund world. Her contributions are unmeasurable and live on through the beautiful photographs and memories she captured, the example she set by helping others, by the beautiful longhairs and wires she bred for show AND hunting , by her kindness, loyalty, leadership and courage. We can see her now, standing tall and stately, full of love and happiness, on the other side of Rainbow Bridge with a smile on her face and dogs at her feet and in her arms. As John Merriman so beautifully said, "Sidney is not gone. She has just gone home." It is comforting to know that she will be there to welcome us when our time comes. We love you, Sidney.

Sidney was one of the fun people I always looked forward to seeing at the shows. I am so glad she did so many pictures of Gunner and me. Such a great laugh . So many great ones she can now join and laugh with. She and Kaye can talk forever.

Sidney will be missed in the dachshund world. We are all richer for having known Sidney and having her touch our lives. Rest in peace, Sidney.

Time passes too quickly and time waits for no one. I realize as I sit here with a card made out for you on my bedside table that was never sent. It took me a long time to find just the right words to thank you for all you did for me. After all you found my husband and because of that we have two great boys. I can't imagine my life any differently. What a great time we had together whether it was at a show or photographing some posh wedding at The Piping Rock Club. I know that Kaye, Jack and Mary are waiting for you and you can all be the judges from heaven. God Bless you my good friend. Love, Megan Hicks (Meggy)

To the family and friends..... We know that death is something that plagues mankind of all races and ages, but we can draw comfort and hope from the scripture found at Isaiah 25:8 that speak of how God will in the future swallow up our enemy death forever, My deepest condolence

One of my favorite memories was at the 2003 Dachshund Club of America national specialty in Syracuse NY; Sid invited me to spend the week with her in her RV; she was so gracious in welcoming me into her circle of friends. I also remember staying with her one weekend after some Long Island shows; she drove me around St. James, showing me places that were near and dear to her. And many field trials, chasing DCh Siddach's Donizetti, "Donny Dammit", LOL. I always appreciated her work at camp, taking photos of the kids; having a son with special needs myself made her contribution even more meaningful to me. And she always thought of kids...introducing new young faces to the joys of dog shows and field trials -- I regret that my daughter did not get to know her; they would have been quite a pair!! Even after we moved back south, she would ask about my autistic son, and sent me a book she knew I'd enjoy about an autistic young man. But that was Sidney...always giving. Always thinking of others. Always training, teaching, sharing, mentoring. I also remember that she loved to name her dogs after musical phrases, especially operatic and classical, and she'd call my husband (an opera singer) for name ideas when she'd get stuck. I remember with great fondness the last time we were together at DCA in Dallas a few years ago...my old Lola, the wonderful dog she entrusted me with years earlier, was the oldest entrant in the Parade of Veterans at age 16. It was an honor to show Lola in her last show (she died less than a week later) with her breeder present to cheer her on. Hey Sid, give old Lola a hug for me, okay? I miss you, dear friend.
