I just found out about Si's passing while updating some web material commemorating my father's work with Si and many other poets and artists. Si was a longtime family friend, and close colleague of my father (James Weil), who published a fair amount of Si's poetry, starting in the early '60s. Our two families shared some nice times together in the Hamptons back in the late-60s/early 70s. My wife and I visited Si at his home in Sag Harbor in 2017. We had a very nice evening, going out to dinner, sharing memories and stories (and a little wine). I'm so glad we did that. What a sweet guy he was. Cheers, Si - here's to you, friend.

Belatedly I learn of Si's death and feel devastated. I knew him through the poem he wrote to Timothy Corsellis, and we met up for the day when I went to New York in 2014. He introduced me, among other things, to the wonderful Poetry House. Ever since I have kept up with his work, sometimes retrospectively, and I reviewed Almost Rain for a French journal. Out of respect for the help he gave me with the work of Paul Blackburn, I will take up that project again asap and so the conversations though silent will continue through the poems. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

For almost 18 years, Si and I would lunch at the old Key York Small Press fair in midtown where my Adastra Press always had a table. Our talks were wide-ranging and always interesting. Memories I cherish.

I published many of his poems in Caliban and Calibanonline. He was brilliant. He didn't sound like anyone else. His otherworldly vision will stay with me as long as I live. What a great poet we have lost.

I am so sorry to hear Simon Perchik has passed. His poems have deeply affected me and so many. I pray his family and friends will find strength and comfort in this time of sorrow. I am thankful he shared something of himself in his poems.

I had the great pleasure of following Mr. Perchik´s poems for more than 30 years and even publishing one or two of them along the way. He and his work will be missed in the literary journals of the US.
