STELLA HERSHAN Obituary

HERSHAN--Stella K., born in Vienna, Austria on February 7, 1915, died on August 22, 2014. She emigrated to New York City in 1939 during the Holocaust. Stella was an internationally known author and lecturer about women in history. Her first of 12 published books, "A Woman of Quality," was a collection of anecdotes about Eleanor Roosevelt. Stella was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy and Felix Kreidl and her husband Rudi. She is survived by her daughter Lisa; her grandchildren Larry (Ellen), Sheryl and great-granddaughters, Jylian, Dilyn, Sydnie and Lauren. Memorial donations in her name may be made to www.ERVK.org.

Like Eleanor Roosevelt, Stella lit candles instead of cursing the darkness. While her breath has gone back to God, she lives in our hearts and the words she so eloquently wrote.
