STEVEN KLEBANOFF Obituary

KLEBANOFF--Steven, age 76, passed away on October 21, 2013 after a brief illness. Steven was born in Philadelphia, the son of Betty and Benjamin Klebanoff and brother of the late Elaine Benson Kaufman. He was a resident of Rye Brook and, previously, Scarsdale, NY. A graduate of Ohio State University with an Engineering Degree, Steven was a well respected and successful businessman. He was a person who was both creative and strategic who thrived on the art of crafting a deal. As a result of his willingness to help others and his unbounded openness and curiosity, he had friends and associates from all walks of life. He had the exceptional ability to tell stories and jokes that matched whatever topic was being discussed. Motivated and always on the go, he enjoyed life to the fullest and somehow always managed to convince his wife, Joy, to join him on every adventure. As a longtime member of Beach Point Club, Steven treasured the many friendships he fostered and the precious family milestones celebrated there. He was a devoted husband and family man. He is survived by his wife, Joy; his son, Peter; his daughter, Jennifer; and his grandchildren, Grant, Abby, Emily and Blake, who were a special source of pride and enjoyment to him. His initiative, optimism and sense of humor enabled him to maintain a balanced life. Steven was a man with a big heart and a strong will. The unexpected passing of a man who was never at a loss for words has left us speechless. Donations in Steven's memory may be made to Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester's New Chapel Fund. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 27 at 2pm at Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester in Rye, NY.

What a great man. Not only could he hold your interest for hours with his stories, he was able to come up with a new story (or joke)on any subject you may be discussing. For sure Steve was never boring. These two wonderful friends shared everything in their lives including their meals. I don't think that Steve ever disagreed with whatever Joy selected for lunch or dinner. Hearing him describe how they met and how he felt that she was the "right one" was a "joy" to hear. No matter how many times he said it, he was prouder than the last. I will never forget him.
