Great military historian.
I remember when he addressed a group of BBYO teeanagers related to the Israeli - Palestinian dispute. He had the talent to speak to anyone. Even my dad was impressed when he first met Steve.

Steve made me a better teacher, having been his teaching partner for 2 1/2 years. He also made me a better person by enlisting me to join him on the Board of the Salvation Army. He made me a better friend by patiently listening to my stories about family, animals, politics, or whatever was on my mind during our many lunches. If I wanted him to laugh, I would ask about Ollie and his antics. He didn't brag, therefore I had to ask about Jay, Polina, & Maya because I knew how proud he was of his family. His reply to a query about Bea primarily was, "She's working." Pride was evident. After having lunch at Bishop's 4th St. Diner (our principal haunt) week before last, he suggested, "Let's go to Ching Tao next time for Chinese." I said, "Sounds good to me." I miss you so very much. I am the Board President at the Edward King House. I knew Steve for only a few years but made it a priority to greet him every day. Somedays, to my surprise, we would have a short conversation - always interesting. I ate lunch with Steve many times and will miss seeing him at the head of the table.
