SUSAN BRENNAN

BRENNAN--Susan Chambers. Susan Lynn Chambers was born May 8, 1944 in Tarrytown NY, the second daughter of Stephen and Eleanor Chambers. A resident of Gibbston, New Zealand she died in New Zealand March 21st (March 20th EDT) after a long illness. She was a graduate of Smith and Dartmouth Colleges and the Harvard Medical school in 1972. Forever in pursuit of other challenges and interests, she was an accomplished small plane pilot during and after college. Following medical school, she became the second ever female to join the surgical residency program at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, now the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. A multi-talented physician, she had experience beyond surgical training in research at the NIH, emergency medicine, a psychiatric fellowship in NY, and was a certified acupuncturist. She moved to Queenstown, New Zealand in 2000 and then to a house she designed and supervised building in Gibbston. This accomplished, she opened her own crystal shop in Arrowtown, continuing her passion for alternative medicine and holistic spiritual healing until incapacitated by her terminal illness. Her elder sister Sherrell predeceased her, and she is survived by her elder brothers Terry and Richard; her husband of 49 years Murray; her adored children and their spouses Sean of Gibbston, Ryan and Michelle of Queenstown, Meghan and David of Lake Tahoe and Patrick and Jana of Los Angeles; and her well beloved grandchildren, Liam, Grace, Finley, Judah, Ellie and Daniel. An accomplished woman of many talents, ideas, and eclectic interests, her life was characterized by a continuous pursuit of learning. She will be forever missed by all who experienced her warmth and generosity. An eternal spirit returned to the stars.
