SUZANNE SIMON Obituary

SIMON- Suzanne Cohn.

Suzy Simon died on June 25th of pancreatic cancer at age 75. As she wished, she passed in her own bed, surrounded by all her loved ones. Her husband of 33 years, David Simon, was by her side throughout the ordeal of pancreatic cancer for 11 months. It was in large part thanks to David's devotion that Suzy was able to fight her disease for as long as she did. At her bedside always were her children, Deb and David Wasser and Deb's wife, Dr Susan Vaughan, whom she loved as her own child. Susan's medical knowledge was hugely helpful throughout. Also ever present were Suzy's doting nieces, Keira and Deirdre Chassman, Deirdre's children Max and Jack Chassman-Silberman, and her grandchildren Savannah and Whittier Vaughan-Wasser. Suzy was the best grandma ever and will be buried with the necklace given her this year: "Just knowing you're my grandma makes me smile." Suzy will be missed by David's sons Michael and Andrew Simon and their families, Michael's wife Alison and their children Lauren, Nathan and Chloe and Andrew's wife Katherina and their children, Jake and Ella, as well as David's sister and her husband, Mimi Forman and John Koller. Suzy was born and spent her whole life in New York, enjoyed New York's culture, most notably serving on the Board of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. She's a graduate of NYU and was a therapist for 40 years. Most recently, Suzy generously supported pancreatic cancer research and asked that any donations be made to The Suzanne Cohn Simon Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund by a check to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (with a notation referencing her Fund), Attn: Amanda Gilstein, 633 3d Ave. 28th Floor, New York, NY10017. Her funeral: Frank E. Campbell 1076 Madison Ave on Monday June 29th at 11am.

The world will not be the same to me, and to many others, without the wisdom and love of my dear Suzy, friends since we were giggling together in 4th grade. My heart goes out to her precious husband David, and her entire family.
