THOMAS DONOGHUE Obituary

DONOGHUE--Thomas M. Thomas M. Donoghue, re-tired Senior Vice President of the Medical Society of the State of New York passed away after a long illness in Port Washington, NY on July 27, 2024. Born in Brooklyn, December 21, 1939, and raised in Queens, Tom was a graduate of Boston University. He was editor-in-chief of the Boston University News, which led to his long and distinguished career as an editor and public relations professional. Tom was Medical Society of the State of New York's liaison to the American Medical Association, where he was honored in 2014 with the AMA Medical Executive Lifetime Achievement award. Tom was an active resident of Port Washington, NY for more than 50 years. He served on the Board of Trustees of the Port Washington Public Library and was celebrated in 2018 for his library service. Tom leaves behind his adored wife, Dorothy Job Donoghue, devoted son and daughter-in-law Thomas J. (TJ) and Erin, and beloved grandchildren Nora and Johnathon. Tom will be remembered for his humanity, strength of character, unfailingly friendly love of people, good judgment, sense of humor, and his bravery facing his final illness. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at the United Methodist Church, Port Washington. Donations can be made to the Friends of the Port Washington Public Library.
