I first met Tom in 2006 when he invited me to visit his African art collection, of which he owned some beautiful examples, in particular masks. Me being originally from Munich, we also shared a love for this city and of course music. His depth, generosity and mirth will live on and be missed dearly. Heinrich

I was heartbroken to learn of Tom's passing. I knew him well since I worked at the Met Opera. My deepest sympathies go out to Jimmy (Levine) & to all his family... He is sorely missed - but he'll live on in his art & the many kindnesses he bestowed upon us all. God speed, Tommy...

I first met Tom in 1960, at Woodward High. High school,college and beyond. He was kind, sincere and a true friend. You will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. RIP my friend. Sincere condolences to Janet and Jim, your brother was special and much loved.

Dear Maestro,
I worked at the Met and Tom was always there in the cafeteria and, of course, the house. I am myself a stage four cancer patient and my sister is my best friend and ally so I think I may know a little of what you may be going through and I send my heartfelt condolences.
