W. STEWART CAHN obituary

W. CAHN Obituary

CAHN--W. Stewart. W. Stewart Cahn, age 84, pillar of the New York City Jewish community and accomplished investment banker, passed away on December 28, 2024 after a battle with cancer. Born in Beacon, NY to Dr. Simon Cahn and Sadie Jane (Effron) Cahn, he was predeceased by his brother Richard. Stewart was a graduate of Colgate University '61 and Cornell Johnson School of Business '63. He began his career working at Chemical Bank (now JPMorganChase) for 28 years in the Banking and Corporate Finance Division, and the Media Corporate Finance Group. At the age of 50, he established Cahn Capital Corp., a boutique investment banking firm which he led for 34 years until his death. Stewart was an active leader with numerous major Jewish charitable organizations, having served on the boards of JCRC-NY, Israel Bonds, and B'nai B'rith International, as well as co-chaired UJA-Federation of New York's Banking & Finance Division, and Entertainment Division. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Sandra F. Cahn. Stewart was beloved as a legend by many generations who knew him and will be deeply missed by all whose countless lives he impacted. He lived his life with humility, generosity, and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to One Israel Fund, 445 Central Ave., #210, Cedarhurst, NY 11516.

Sandy:

Jane and I were very sad to hear of Stew's passing. We remember you from the Nederlander opening night days; you were always such nice people. Also, thanks so much for your contribution to the Jewish cause through the years.

May your happy memories get you through this very difficult time.
