Dear Ginger, John and family,
I was so saddened to hear about Billy. He looked so well when I visited him at MSK and it was so nice seeing him and you, Ginger. I remember thinking to myself as I left the hospital what a special relationship the two of you had for such a long time. The love that you shared permeated the the room like a gentle mist and I still remember thinking that as you walked me to the elevator and said goodbye. When I got home, Sue and I reminisced a bit about you both and how lucky you were to have each other and how unusual it seemed that so many of a circle of old friends from college were still happpily married 45 years later - you, us, the Grossman's, Lane's & Weiss's.
And John, you made your Dad so proud in a special kind of way. When I first met you, your personality shone right through and I thought to myself, that is Ginger Saskin's boy (there is no higher compliment)! When I told your your Dad how extraordinarily well you had done in such so short a time, he beamed a different kind of pride than I am used to. He looked at me as if to say "I knew that, did you expect any different?"
In a separate entry, Sue and I have placed a poem - a silent meditation from the Kol Nidre service that we hope affords you some solace.
