To the Family of Bill Buice,
I was one of the lucky people who got to know and love and spend a great deal of time with Bill Buice. From my first time meeting him at Asheville School I was taken by his friendly demeanor, absolute brilliance in almost everything, calm, guiding hand when needed, good, solid advice at all times. He was a mentor to me on the Board and taught me well but became a great friend as well over time and over many meals and glasses of wine. A finer gentleman would be hard to find. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, especially me and the Asheville School.

As a former recipient of the William T. Buice III Scholarship at Rare Book School, I was saddened to hear Bill's passing. I am sorry that I never got to meet him, but always felt deep gratitude and admiration for Bill's generous support of books and learning. My condolences to Bill's family and friends.

What a true Southern Gentleman. A fine Christian and family member who lived his faith every day. A long time neighbor, friend and mentor, he is already missed. Julie And Paul Ben-Susan

My condolences on the passing of a true gentleman. I knew Bill through the University Club and our shared love of books. I always looked forward to working with Bill on committees and, even more, to sharing time with him in general, as his warmth, positivity, and great sense of humor, coupled with his sharp mind, made for the most pleasant experiences no matter what the setting or challenge. It was always a true joy to see Bill. May his memory bring you comfort.
