WILLIAM SCHWARTZ Obituary

SCHWARTZ--William.

The Yeshiva University family mourns the passing of our former colleague William Schwartz, who served as Vice President of Academic Affairs at YU and held the chair established by the Widgeon Point Charitable Foundation as University Professor at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. He was a trustee of the Joel and Maria Finkle Trust and was their dear friend, lawyer and advisor who supported Jewish Studies at Stern College for Women and the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary. He was a member of the Sy Syms School of Business Board of Overseers and established the William Schwartz Sy Syms Business Plan Competition. Together with his beloved wife, Bernice Schwartz, a former President of the YU Women's Organization New England Region, they have been instrumental in securing support for YU, the institution from which he received an honorary degree in 1998. Heartfelt condolences are extended to Bernice and their children: Robin (and Dr. Baruch) Jacobs, Alan Schwartz and their grandchildren: Jessica, Mark, Gabriella, Benjamin and Martha.
