ZOSIA ROGERS Obituary

ROGERS--Zosia Znamiecka,

age 94, died peacefully at home in Hobe Sound, FL on October 31, 2016. She was born on July 11, 1922 in Shawangunk, NY, the daughter of Janina Daniszewska and Alexander Znamiecki. She graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1944. Her first husband, Charles Anthony Chace, died in 1957 in a plane crash. On May 31, 1958 she married Howland Pendleton Rogers. He predeceased her in 2014. In 1968, Zosia became one of the founding members of the Woman's Board of the Boys Club of New York. She remained on the Board for the rest of her life. As a graduate of the New York School of Interior Design, she successfully ran her own decorating business for over 40 years. She and her husband "Pen" divided their time between Tuxedo Park, NY and Hobe Sound, FL. Upon becoming a full-time Florida resident in the 90's, she became very involved in local community affairs, in particular with the Jupiter Island Garden Club. She became well-known at their second-hand shop, "The WearHouse", where she took great pride in helping customers choose their outfits and keep within their budgets. Enough money was raised to create an ongoing educational scholarship for local students. Zosia is survived by her daughters Alexandra Chace Penati and Susan Rogers Moehlmann; and her step-children, Lisa Rogers Taylor and Henry Pendleton Rogers. In addition, she is survived by her granddaughter Sophia Alexia Moehlmann; and her step-grandchildren - Emma, Elizabeth and Gillian Rogers; and Amanda and Sabrina Bornstein. A service in her memory will be held at the Christ Memorial Chapel on Jupiter Island at the end of November. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to "Zosia Rogers/Jupiter Island Garden Club Scholarships", P.O. Box 1410, Hobe Sound, FL 33475-1410 or to "The Boys Club of New York", Office of Development, 287 East 10th Street, NY, NY 10009.

My heart goes out to all the family. Zosia was my mother's oldest and very dear friend from Warsaw, NY and Glen Cove. They shared a special connection of culture and history. Lots of love from Diane Toland, Trixie's daughter.

A lovely obituary befitting a beautiful person! As someone who benefitted from her kindness at the Wearhouse, I smiled to see mention of her time there. She was truly an elegant and warm person.

So sorry for your loss, be comforted knowing she is resting peacefully, wait on God to make all things new, doing away with death and pain shortly.
