Betty Bradshaw Obituary

Betty Beverly Bradshaw

December 24, 1936 - October 20, 2025

Graveside services for Betty Beverly Bradshaw, age 88, of Auburn, formerly of Roanoke, Montgomery, and Still Waters, will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Cedarwood Cemetery with The Bro. Cleve Moore officiating and Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the Roanoke First Methodist Church from 2:00-3:00 PM on Friday before services begin.

Mrs. Bradshaw passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, at her residence.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Lee Bradshaw of Winston, GA and David Houston Bradshaw (Mary) of Lexington, KY; three grandchildren, Jessica Jackson (Tevin) of Crawfordville, FL, Jeffrey Elkins of Tallahassee, FL, and Marian Adams (James) of Louisville, KY; seven great-grandchildren; and many wonderful relatives and friends.

A Roanoke native, Mrs. Bradshaw was born on December 24, 1936, the daughter of Durward Lee and Naomi Kirby Beverly. She graduated from Handley High School in 1955 and attended Birmingham Southern College and Auburn University, where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi social sorority. She and her husband Bob were high school sweethearts and were married at the First Methodist Church in Roanoke on December 15, 1956, while students at Auburn. After Bob's graduation and commissioning in the Air Force, the couple began a 30-year military career involving moves to nine US States and Thailand and visits to many other foreign countries. They called it "Our Great Adventure."

During this time and after Bob's retirement from the Air Force, Betty worked in various positions: in Bangkok as a teacher of English as a Second Language and with war refugees from the Vietnam-Cambodia war; as a secretary; and as lawyer referral specialist and clerk at both the Florida and Alabama State Bars.

Betty was a beautiful and intelligent woman, a devoted and loving wife and mother, a full supporter of her husband's career, a member of the Roanoke First Methodist Church, and a loyal and devoted friend to many. She will be sorely missed.

Mrs. Bradshaw was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob Bradshaw; a daughter, Melissa Bradshaw Elkins; and a brother, Robert Medford Beverly.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial donations be made to the Roanoke First Methodist Church at P.O. Box 40, Roanoke, AL 36274, the Randolph County Animal Shelter at 104 Animal Shelter Road, Wedowee, Alabama 36278, or your favorite charity.
