Graveside service for Mr. David Leverne Taylor will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 11:30 AM (CST) Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, AL. Face masks are required. Pastor Troy Clark will officiate.

David Leverne Taylor was born on July 12, 1957 in Tuskegee (Macon County), AL. He was preceded by his parents, Mr. Leverne Taylor and Mrs. Cliffie Lee Graves Taylor.

His Christian walk involved attending Bethesda Baptist Church. David was a graduate of Opelika High School, Class of 1975. He served 22 years in the United States Air Force. David continued his education by receiving his Master's Degree in Computer Science from Webster University in St. Louis, MO. David was also an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus where he taught computer science.

After retiring from the Air Force, he worked at the Federal Election Commission, where he also served for 22 years. He was the IT Help Desk Manager.

On Friday, November 19, 2021, David lost his battle with cancer, however, gained the greatest victory. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hicks Taylor, his son, David Leverne Taylor, Jr. of Silver Springs, MD, two sisters, Terri Taylor of Alpharetta, GA and Sharon Taylor of Opelika, AL, one brother, Anthony (Vera) Taylor of Auburn, AL, one aunt, Barbara Bishop of MS, two uncles, Charles Ray Taylor of LA and Warren Graves of Washington, D.C., two cousins as sisters, Linda Hall of Gulfport, MS and Margie Willis of Hattiesburg, MS, his in laws, Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Kazue Hicks, two brothers-in-law, Robert (Marcia) Hicks, Jr. of Barstow, CA and Gerry Hicks of Opelika, AL, one sister-in-law, Monica Hicks-Crump of Opelika, AL, stepdaughter, Micaele (James Lee) K. Clay, stepson, SSgt. Jared (Rhiannon) E. Clay, two step-grandchildren, Hannah Grace Clay and Madison Harper Clay, ex-wife and mother of his son, Lola Canandy of Collinsville, IL, three nieces, Kristie N. Howard of San Francisco, CA, Shanikia Taylor of Alpharetta, GA, LaShonda Torbert of Laurel, MD, six nephews, Adrian J. Kindred of Alpharetta, GA, Shannon (Alexis) Wilson of Little Rock, AR, Jared (Brianna) Torbert of Atlanta, GA, Anthony Walker of Milwaukee, WI, Kevin Redmon of Bay St. Louis, MS, Calvin (Dessa) Chambers of Owatonna, MN, first cousin, Victor Welth of Cusseta, AL, goddaughter LaTora Todd Jackson, and his very special friends, Jack and Luvenia Robinson, Darlean Todd, Rita Faye Johnson, Ingram and Shirley Lilly, Addie Fowler, Venus Santiago of Waldorf, MD, Bill Green of Fredericka, DE and Eddie (Sherrie) Nichols of Hampton, VA, and a host of other family and friends.
