Donna Sherrell Proffitt

Donna Sherrell Proffitt of Opelika, Alabama, was born in Gadsden, Alabama, on October 5, 1941, to the late Jerome Sherrell and Conola Smith, and passed away on February 12, 2021, at the Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama. She was 79 years old.

Mrs. Proffitt was predeceased by her son, Wayne Proffitt, Jr., and her grandson, Ben Bentley.

Mrs. Proffitt is survived by the love of her life and husband of 63 years, Wayne Proffitt, Sr.; daughter, Kim Taylor (David); granddaughters, Brook Peavy (Jimmy), Kelly Proffitt and her fiancé, Tyler, and Kathryn Todd (Dalton). She is also survived by great-granddaughters, Bennett Peavy, and Emma and Ella Todd.

A special thank you to Pallbearers: Jimmy Peavy, Dalton Todd, Tyler Rice, Freddy Weygand, Jay Smith, and Johnny Smith. The family would also like to thank Chris Starr and staff at Bethany House in Auburn, and Joseph Dean and staff at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home, Tuesday, February 16, 2021, from 11:30 until 12:45 p.m.

The funeral service will follow in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Auburn Memorial Park cemetery in Auburn, Alabama, with Alex Howell officiating.
