John Albert Pitts of Opelika was born in Riverview, Alabama to the late Lewis and Orean Audrey McCoullough Pitts on December 28, 1942 and passed away at his home on February 11, 2021. He was 78 years old.
John served in the United States Air Force and was employed for over 35 years at Uniroyal. He was an avid sportsman and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Pitts and Frank Pitts.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sheila Pitts; son, Jason John Pitts (his wife) Lori Pitts "who was like a daughter"; daughter, Tammy Pitts Reed (Frank); grandchildren, John Avery Pitts, Hannah Marie Pitts, Dominique Reed, and Aleasa Devon Reed; great grandson, A'Iryion Reed; Special son, Joshua Knight; sister, Annette Greathouse; sister-in-law, Linda Pitts, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 14, 2021 in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Sunday, February 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Micah Greathouse officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery.
