Mary Lynne Jones Garner
Mary Lynne Jones Garner, age 78, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021. She was survived by her four children, two daughter in-laws, a son in-law and 12 beautiful grandchildren, who proudly made up the entirety of her world. Trip Garner (Tamera), and their children Addie, Emma, and Ben, of Opelika, Alabama. Tim Garner (Wendy), and their children Cole and Reece, of Birmingham, Alabama. Ty Garner and his children Evan, Landon, and Christian of Opelika, Alabama and Jacksonville, Alabama. Tiffany (Eric) Reebals and their children Cal, Luke, Grey, and Livi Reebals.
She was born in Roanoke, Alabama to Fuller and Henrietta Jones with two older brothers and one younger sister. "Mary Lynne" grew up and spent most of her life in Opelika, Alabama where her talents were many. She was a high school majorette and state champ tennis player. She was a graduate from Opelika High School in 1961 and attended Jacksonville State University, where she was a member of the dance line. She was an accomplished seamstress and excellent gardener. She has been a long time member of First Baptist church in Opelika. She was a beloved wife, mother, and Mimi. She liked calling her grands" Mimi's dozen" and often told them the saying "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck". She modeled the most beautiful qualities such as kindness, generosity, sacrificial love, compassion, courage, and love for others. Her love for her family and her God have been expressed and how she lived her life in immeasurable ways. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bennie Garner, Jr., parents, brother David, and sister Carol.
Funeral services were held on Monday, October 11, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Opelika, Alabama with a Celebration of Life in the worship center at 11:00 am.
