Sandra Gene "Sandy" Mathis, age 81, of Dickson, TN passed away Tuesday October 28, 2025. Her wishes were to be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Born in Chattanooga, TN, she was the daughter of the late William Lebeau and Gene Lancaster Walsh. Sandy had a way of making every person that she met feel loved and valued. She spent her entire life encouraging, celebrating, and lifting up her family and friends. She never worked outside the home but worked so hard to make sure home was a peaceful and loving place for her husband, her children and her grandchildren. She could find the positive in any situation in life and had the gift of helping you find it too.

Sandy enjoyed golf, but never really cared about winning. (Although she would want it told that she had not one, but two hole-in-one shots) She always said that her outfits were cute and she had lunch with her girls after, and that was the most important part anyway. Traveling with her husband in their motor home was her favorite thing in the world - she was a professional passenger princess. She never touched the steering wheel but she always had the best snacks.

Her family is looking forward to sharing stories of her with a new great-grandson, John Walsh, and another great-grandson who will join the family soon. She was a member of the Church of the Highlands in Alabama.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Mathis of Dickson, TN; son, Tray Mathis (Angie Hovde) of Bozman, MT; daughter, Shawn Harmon (Robby) of Dickson, TN; brother, Edmund Walsh of Gadsden, AL; 2 grandchildren, Will Harmon (Savannah) and Mary Lancaster Story (Jack); 1 great-grandson, John Walsh Story; her niece, Tori Walsh Roberson (Daniel) and her children, Wes and Daniel Roberson.
