William Adcock Obituary

William "Bill" Clarence Adcock

November 27, 1940 - April 3, 2025

William "Bill" Clarence Adcock, 84, left this world for his heavenly home on April 3, 2025, at Bill Nichols Veteran's Home. He was born on November 27, 1940, the eldest son of his parents Johnny William Adcock and Mary Lucille Carroll Adcock Gamble.

After graduating from Camp Hill High School, Bill proudly served his country with courage and integrity as a tactical aircraft maintenance specialist in the United States Air Force. After leaving service, he continued his education at Auburn University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971. He then worked as a supervisor at Ampex in Opelika for 12 years before going to work at the department of quality control for Uniroyal Tire Plant where he retired in 2002.

An avid sportsman, Bill loved fishing, golfing, and Auburn football. His ability to bring laughter into every situation made each fishing trip and golf game an entertaining and memorable time for anyone lucky enough to have had the experience. There was never a dull moment with Bill around to inject his unique brand of humor into every circumstance. Bill's humor, practical jokes, and impromptu singing will be remembered affectionately by his family and friends in the years to come.

William was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ann, and infant brother, Charles Joseph Adcock. He is survived by five brothers, John (Emily) Adcock of Notasulga, AL, Roger (Betty) Adcock of Dadeville, AL, David (Nancy) Adcock of Selbyville, DE, Mike Adcock of Camp Hill, AL, and Dean (Anita) Adcock of Dadeville, AL; his girlfriend, Karen Waller; his children, Lisa Smith and Glen Adcock, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Aubie.

A celebration of life will be held on May 4, 2025, at Pentecost Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m.

I have so many things I could say about this man. He was absolutely incredible and genuine. I was so blessed to have been able to be his caregiver for the past couple years, until God called him home, but not only his caregiver, we were "family". Gabby and I will always remember you Bill. Keep loving us from heaven. (Smooches Old Man)

Worked with Bill at Uniroyal and he was what I call "Good People". One of my favorites during my 38 years at the plant
