David Brownlow Obituary

ODESSA David ""Mason"" Brownlow, 21, went to Heaven on Friday, December 9, in Lubbock, Texas. Mason was born on September 12, 1990 in Odessa, Texas.

He was the son of David Brownlow and Lori Dubose Brownlow of Odessa and the brother of Kayley ""Sister"" Brownlow of Lubbock. Mason graduated from Permian High School in 2009. He was a junior at Texas Tech University and a member of Kappa Alpha Order fraternity.

Mason will be missed by many. He was laidback with a charming smile and a contagious laugh. He never met a stranger and was always the life of the party. He was the true definition of a KA Gentleman. He loved his family, Texas country, Rosa's Café, and the ladies. His hobbies include Fantasy football, Madden on PlayStation, golf, and anything with his KA brothers. Mason was a movie buff and had a passion for music.

Mason was survived by his parents, David Brownlow and Lori Dubose Brownlow; his older sister, Kayley Brownlow and her fiancé, Daniel Howard; maternal grandparents, Bill and Patsy Dubose of Odessa; paternal grandparents, David and Oralia Brownlow of El Paso; several uncles and aunts, Shana Dubose of Odessa; Billy and Becky Dubose of Odessa; Michael and Laura Brownlow of Perrin; Victor and Caroline of El Paso; Brian and Angie of Oahu, HI; his great-aunt, Daisy Page, and great-cousin, Linda Page of Coleman; cousins, Lauren Dubose of Houston, Dustin Dubose and his wife, Tisha Dubose of Odessa; and many family friends.
Mason will be with his great-grandparents, Bill and Juanita Dubose and Pat and Nelda Bills; and his great-uncle, Tedo Page, in Heaven.

A celebration of Mason's life will be held Wednesday, December 14, at 4:00pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Odessa. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, December 13, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.

Lori,

We are so, so sorry! Losing your son is not easy nor does it make any sense. Try not to do the "Mom" thing and blame your self. We Mom's can't keep our boys locked up in safe play areas all their lives. It's a very hard and very brave thing we do to let them go. Wish I could hug you!

Much luv to you and yours,

The Hubbles

Mason was a student in my class. What a journey he traversed! He worked hard. Perhaps he accomplished what he needed for the next leg of his journey. I am also a mother, & my sorrow accompanies those of his family's. I am having trouble with his passing. God speed comfort to you, his family & friends.

Although I only met Mason one time at an Albany football game, I have been fortunate to hear stories from my step son Trey and I know that he cherished their friendship. He has forever made a lasting impact on Trey's life and I am so thankful they met and became such close friends. Your family has been in our prayers and will continue to be. I hope you feel the love coming from Albany, Texas because I know he made many friends from here. Praying for strength and peace for your family and may you cherish the many memories he gave you because YOU WILL be with him again one day!

Sweet Mason,
Words cannot express how sad I am to know that I won't be seeing that sweet smile of yours when I come home to Odessa.. I will never forget the butterflies I got in the 6th grade when you asked me to dance at the LBJ cheerleader/football banquet.. after that night I would wait around by the house phone waiting for you to call! lol.. my mom always had to break up our conversations because she needed to use the phone. I was so excited when you asked me to my first homecoming game! You got me a mum and paid for my dinner (this was a big deal to a 12 year old girl)!!! Mom took me shopping for a new outfit and I even crimped my hair for you, haha... Throughout all of the years I have held a very special place in my heart for you sweet Mason. I will miss you so much, but I hope that you knew what a precious and irreplaceable role you played in my life. This is not goodbye, but until I see you again in Heaven... Love you Mason Brownlow!

My Dearest Mason, You know that your Mom and your Sister will need you as their Guardian Angel. So you have a new job, and I know you will do it well. Keep them safe and every once in awhile flutter your wings and they will know you are near.
