Hazel May Cavanaugh

Odessa - Hazel May Cavanaugh, age 87 of Odessa, TX passed away on Sunday, February 9th, 2025. A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, February 14th, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Allen Weakland of Eisenhower Church of Christ officiating. Hazel was born on February 11th,1937 to IO and Oleta Taylor in Santa Anna, Texas. She attended school and graduated in Brady, Texas. On November 11, 1956, Hazel married her husband of 68 years Donald Glenn Cavanaugh at her parents' home in Brady. Don and Hazel settled in Odessa, TX in 1962 when Don began working at the El Paso Products Refinery. Hazel was involved with the Permian Band Boosters while Rocky and Brent were in school. She enjoyed traveling with her family to Del Rio TX and Colorado on many fishing and camping trips, especially after Don retired. Hazel served 35 years as a volunteer with the Auxiliary at Odessa Regional Medical Center in Odessa. She enjoyed shopping at different craft shows with her daughter-in-law. Hazel is survived by husband, Don Cavanaugh; sons, Rocky Glenn Cavanaugh and Brent Lee Cavanaugh; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Cavanaugh; nephews, Kevin Cavanaugh, and Greg Lee; nieces, Kayla Cavanaugh, and Laurie Lee. She is preceded in death by her parents, IO Taylor and Oleta Taylor; father-in-law, Elmer Cavanaugh; mother-in-law, Martha Cavanaugh; sister, Shirley Taylor; and brother, Bill Taylor.
