Jack Hankins Obituary

ODESSA Jack Woodrow Hankins passed Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at Texas Veteran Home in Big Spring. He was born April 25, 1917, to Myrtle and Phillip Hankins in Erath Co., Texas. He married Madeline Burklow on December 11, 1938.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years.

He is survived by son, Gene Hankins of Cloudcroft, N.M.; daughter, Nedra Morrell of Goldsmith, Texas; grandchildren, Dr. Joe Sasin, Beckey Yancey, David Hankins, Evan, Cathy Bowers, Cynthia Warren, Faran Hankins; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2009. Graveside services will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. He and his wife worked in several children's homes, including the one in Pyote, Texas. He was a Christian man and the patriarch of the family and will be greatly missed. Visitation is Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hubbard-Kelly.

Nedra, I am so sorry we did not know or we would have been at the service. I had missed seeing you for some time and wondered if your Dad was worse. We both know he is so happy now with God and your Mother and others gone before him. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your entire family.
