Kathy Shaw Obituary

ODESSA - Kathy Ann Cleaver Shaw peacefully left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 20, 2016. Kathy was born December 2, 1953 in Odessa, TX to Laydell Cleaver Sr. and Willie Mae Griffin. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Katrina Shaw and sister Patricia Womack.

Visitation will be held 12pm - 9pm Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.

Celebration of Life will be held at 1pm, Friday, December 2, 2016 at Rose of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery in Peaceful Garden. Arrangements are under the care of Martinez Funeral Home.

Kathy attended elementary school in Odessa and junior high and high school in Odessa and Midland. She graduated from Ector High at mid-term in January 1973. She also attended Odessa and Midland Colleges.

Kathy worked at Glenwood/Desert Springs as a Mental Health Counselor, Aim High School as a teacher Aide and private sitter until her health failed. She was a member of the Rose of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church and loved working with the Golden Girls.

Kathy Ann Cleaver-Shaw leaves to cherish her memories: Albert Price, two sons: David Shaw Jr. and Demetric Price (Odessa, TX); sister: Gloria Dancer (Odessa, TX); brother: Laydell Cleaver Jr. (Los Angeles, CA); stepson: Albert Gary (Dallas, TX); grandchildren: D'Oshanae Shaw-Fitts, David Shaw III Fitts, Daveyon Shaw-Fitts and Ashley Haven (Midland, TX); special cousin: Janice Cleaver (Northridge, CA); aunt: Bertha Marie Nealy (Oxnard, CA); uncles: Chester Cleaver (Odessa, TX) Greg Cleaver and Rollo Cleaver (Ft. Worth, TX), Darrell Cleaver and Andy Cleaver (Ranger, TX); special friends: Linda Cooks (Midland, TX), Rose Whitfill (Denver, CO); uncle: Alonzo Wiley (Odessa, TX); nephews: Victor Dancer (Sandra), Bobby Dancer Jr. (Mariela), James Luna (Dee Dee) all of Odessa, TX and Dedrick Tyrone Griffin (Oakland, CA); nieces: Cheryl Cleaver and Tasha Cleaver (Odessa, TX), Ashley Womack (Mesquite, TX); special nephew: Allen Price (Odessa, TX) and Derrold Lynn Hunt (Midland, TX); sisters-in-law: Helen Brown and Irene Hunt (Midland, TX); brothers-in-law: Curtis Shaw (Jewell) of Midland, TX and Cephus Shaw (Dallas, TX) and numerous other relatives and friends.

I miss you Kathan aka Kathy. Several times a day I think about you, wanting to pick up the phone and call. I wish I could hear your voice, your laughter. There's a big void in my life now. I try to rely on memories, we surely made a lot of those. No doubt in my mind you knew how much I loved you. Until we meet again I'll try to remain strong for your boys.
