Mary McDaniel Obituary
MONAHANS Mary Louise McDaniel, 86, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away Wednesday morning, April 6, 2011, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village in Odessa, Texas.
She was born to John Hezekiah and Josephine Marie Taylor in Choctaw County, Oklahoma on September 4, 1924. There as the third child of eight, she and her family enjoyed many blessings in a loving and happy home. At the age of 13, she accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized in the waters of the Red River. Then on February 7, 1941, she married the love of her life, Walter Q. McDaniel. Ten years later, she and "Mac" made their home in Kermit, Texas, and subsequently moved their family of six to Monahans. Louise's later years were spent at Parks Methodist Retirement Village where she spent many days building memories and relationships with the great Parks' staff and friends.
Louise's life has been nothing short of a true legacy of unconditional love. She believed that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were "jewels in her crown." She had indeed earned her crown as one of God's true servants in her undying devotion to her family and friends. Louise treasured each and every moment spent with her family-during holidays, special occasions, birthdays, or just times enjoyed sharing memories looking through her many collections of photo albums.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband W.Q. "Mac" McDaniel, her daughter Jane Armstrong and son-in-law Ray Dean Blair. She is survived by her son Sammy McDaniel and wife Diane of Monahans, daughter June Blair of Odessa and daughter Mary Ellen VanCleave and husband Carroll of Odessa; eight grandchildren-Kent McDaniel of Monahans, Melanie Bruns of Katy, Cheryl Gambell, Jon Dell Blair and Rayne Hall of Odessa, Andrea Veteto of Austin, Shana Killian of Possum Kingdom, and Michelle Wilkins of Spring; fourteen great-grandchildren-Brant and Kelly McDaniel, Catherine, Daniel and Amelia Bruns, Henry and Michelle Gambell, Cody and Casey Veach, Christopher Boulware, Chase Glidwell, and Danielle, Lucas, and Julianna Wilkins; brother Scott Taylor of Soper, Oklahoma; sisters, Georgie Fern Robinson of Arlington, Etta Vie Smith of Arizona and Millie Gault of Napa, California; and special friends W.T. McCrary and Ann Everest of Odessa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Home Hospice of Odessa or a charity of their choice.
