Melissa Kindel Obituary

MIDLAND - Melissa Faye Kindel, 58, of Midland, Texas, went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 29, 2022. She was born December 17, 1963, in Odessa, Texas to Melvin and Marilyn Kindel.

She graduated from Odessa High in 1982 and graduated from UTPB with a degree in psychology/sociology. Later she moved to Midland.

Melissa was full of love which she poured out lavishly on her friends and family. She had countless friends and family who loved her more than she could have imagined. She served others in so many ways, usually quietly behind the scenes. She loved children and they loved her. Several years ago, she had a group of young boys she would take "wrapping houses" on Friday nights, and they thought she was the coolest lady ever!

She loved gardening. In the spring she wore out the nurseries in town buying plants and asking questions about plants. She loved geraniums and would reserve dozens of them as soon as they were available in the spring, knowing the neighbors were going to love seeing them as they passed by.

And she loved dogs! (And cats)! Her dog, Piper, was dear to her heart and will grieve her loss with the rest of us. She was known as the dog lady. She cared for everyone's dogs when they went out of town, and no one could love them better. Every neighbor knew her as the lady who walked the dogs every day. And she soon knew every neighbor by name and knew their stories. She was an incredibly good listener. She would remind her friends to pray for anyone who was struggling with any situation.

She loved Jesus; she prayed constantly and reminded others to do the same. She loved Christian music but sang only when she thought no one could hear her. The last entry in her journal was a scripture of prayer.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Marilyn Kindel. She is survived by her sisters, Melanie Bedrick and husband Phillip, Marnie Davis and husband Larry, nieces and nephews, Ben Bedrick, Stephanie Hiener and husband Bryan, Trent Davis and wife Amber, and Troy Davis, 4 great nieces and nephews and aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is also survived by her second dad and mom, Dale and Rita Brown, and the whole Brown Family.

Melissa's battle against cancer was short, but she lived it with faith and peace. She will leave a huge hole in the lives of all who knew her, but she also leaves a huge trail of blessings and sweet memories to fill that hole.

Viewing will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2022 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. The memorial celebration will be held at the Golf Course Road Church of Christ on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with Tod Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to Midland Christian School, where she was a faithful volunteer for many years.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
