Pat Batie Obituary

Abilene - Patricia Rene Batie went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 7, 2026, just two days before her 95th birthday.

The family invites relatives and friends to a Celebration of Life service at First Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, followed by a graveside service at Monahans Memorial Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Friends will be received at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home on Sunday, March 29, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch in Amarillo, Texas.

Pat was born March 9, 1931, in Fort Worth, Texas. She came to know Christ as her Savior and was baptized on the memorable day of Pearl Harbor. When she was in the eighth grade, her family moved to Artesia, New Mexico, where she met the love of her life, Eugene Batie. There, as part of the "Artesia Bulldogs," they soon became a well-known and admired couple-Eugene for his athletic accomplishments and Pat for her talents as a tap dancer, twirler and football queen. Many recognized them as a loving, compatible couple whose lives were rooted in faith and devotion.

Pat and Eugene were married on April 17, 1949, and spent the next 63 years together until Eugene's untimely passing on May 9, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Throughout their life together, Pat and Eugene touched many lives-family, friends and their community. Their strong work ethic and unwavering Christian faith guided them through both joyful and challenging seasons of life. They worked side by side and the teamwork, dedication and shared passion made the success of Batie Foodway stores throughout New Mexico, ranching, farming and raising a wide variety of animals including quarter horses, thoroughbreds, chinchillas, exotic chickens, greyhounds, parakeets, canaries, cockatiels, sheep, cattle, swine, and Boer goats all possible. Pat played an active role with the business bookkeeping and pedigree records, caring for the animals and helping prepare for shows. Batie Suffolk sheep was widely known nationwide, winning numerous awards, including several national championships.

After retirement, Pat and Eugene enjoyed traveling with their RV and meeting weekly with friends for dinner and dominoes.

Pat was always deeply proud of her family. She loved each one dearly and prayed for them daily. Above all, her faith in God was deep and unwavering. With Christ as her Savior, her family finds comfort in knowing she is resting in God's arms for eternity, rejoicing in heaven alongside her beloved husband and loved ones who have gone before her.

Pat is survived by her son, Dr. Rod Batie and wife Cindy of Beavercreek, Ohio; daughter Janet Smith and husband Ron of Abilene, Texas; brother Don Batie and wife Merle of Orland, California; sisters, Laverne Jones of Grants, New Mexico and Karen Batie of Joshua, Texas.

She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Monty White and wife Breanna of Georgetown, Texas; Mary Louise Fuentes of Cincinnati, Ohio; Matthew Batie and wife Elizabeth of Cincinnati, Ohio; Jory White and wife Lauren of Abilene, Texas; Brad White of Odessa, Texas; and Melissa Holmes and husband Dr. Austin of Manhattan, New York.

Her legacy continues through her beloved great-grandchildren: J Fuentes, Sophia Fuentes, Ethan White, Estella Fuentes, William Batie, Lucas Batie, Liam White, Cambria White, Maclynn White, Henry White and Sonny Holmes. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pat will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her devotion to family and the loving example she set for all who knew her.

Yesterday

What a beautiful precious lady. I was hers and Eugene´s dental assistant for years in Odessa. They were both so precious. Pat will never be forgotten... Heaven must be sweeter today with her there
