Rebecca Lee Wallace

ODESSA - Rebecca Wallace was born on March 15, 1958, to parents Ruby Montgomery and James Ricks. She graduated from Ector High School in 1976. She married Samuel Ray Wallace "Sammy" on September 10, 1987, in Odessa, Texas.

She was a beloved bus driver for ECISD for 33 years. In 2010 she and husband Sammy Ray inherited their beautiful great granddaughter of 8 months named Sha'Leya.

Rebecca was very compassionate, gentle, and soft spoken. She loved life, laughter, and people. She had a contagious smile that lit the room. She loved her husband with every part of her being. Although she did not have any biological children of her own, God blessed her with 8 to love, encourage and mother. She was a loyal and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend.

Rebecca departed this life on July 22, 2022, and is preceded in death by her father James Ricks, sister Vickie Oaks, brother Jack Richardson, nephew Juan (Felix) Toca, stepdaughter, Quintina Wallace and grand-daughter Azaley Wallace.

Rebecca is survived by her husband Sammy Ray Wallace of Odessa TX, her heart and great grand daughter Sha'Leya Kelly of Odessa, TX. Mother Ruby Montgomery of Odessa, TX. Sister La Merle Young (Charles) of Odessa TX, Brother Charles Ricks (Tammy) of Odessa TX, Brother Jon Taylor (Sheila) of Temple TX. Brother James Ricks of Odessa, TX, 2 stepsons of Odessa, 2 stepdaughters of Midland/Odessa TX, 2 stepdaughters of Houston TX, 18 grandkids, 12 great grandkids and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

Visitation for Rebecca will be held on Thursday August 4, 2022, from 10:00 am - 9:00 pm with a wake to be held at 7:00 pm at Martinez Funeral Home and Crematory.

Celebration of Life for Rebecca will be held on Friday August 5, 2022, at 10:00 am at Greater St. John's Baptist Church with Pastor EJ Miller Officiating.

Burial will follow at American Heritage Cemetery in Midland, Texas.
