Robert Gerald Huffty

Odessa - Robert Gerald Huffty, 87 years old, of Odessa, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024 at home. He was born in Kilbourne, Louisiana on July 1, 1936 to Herbert Huffty and Shirley Turner. Gerald married the love of his life, Claudine Luby, on June 6, 1959 in Eden, Mississippi.

Gerald was proud to be an American, and served his country during his time of duty in the Army until he was honorably discharged in 1965. Gerald liked to spend every weekend sitting on his swing listening to "Outlaws Prayer" by Johnny Paycheck while enjoying an iced cold beer. When he wasn't on his swing, you could find him on the water fishing or watching the game. Gerald enjoyed watching footballs games, especially if the Cowboys were playing and in the off season, you could catch him watching baseball to see the Rangers play. He also liked to watch old western movies, John Wayne or Clint Eastwood could be found on the television. Gerald was a family man and who cared deeply and loved unconditionally. He had a soft spot in his heart for his grandbaby Beau. Gerald loved his wife, Claudine and created a beautiful life with the family they made. He was the type of man who would give you the shirt off of his back and lend a helping hand when he was needed. Gerald was a handy man, whose mechanic skills could fix almost anything. Gerald also spent over forty years with Dale Meyer Trucking as a truck driver. He was a devoted Christian man, who went to be with the Lord and rest.

Those left to cherish his love and memory are his loving wife Claudine Huffty; son Keith Huffty; daughter-in-law Kim Huffty; daughters Shirley and her husband John Peterman, as well as Donna Ahrendt; brother Jimmy Huffty; grandchildren Corey Huffty, Haley Harrison, Chris Bean, Rob Bean, Jordan Fincher, Ty Ahrendt and his wife Brittani and Kenzi Ahrendt; as well as eleven great grandchildren.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Shirley Huffty; son Dennis Huffty; brothers Zeke Huffty and Willie Huffty.

The family will be held a Memorial Service on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Mister Robert and Claudine Huffty's residence. Mister Stanley Huffty from Cornerstone Church Officiated the service.
