William Abercrombie Obituary

Odessa, TX - William Thaxton Abercrombie Sr., 86, from Odessa, TX., passed away 11/12/2023 at MCH in Odessa. Lovingly known as Dad, Papa, Bill, and Catfish. He was born on July 21, 1937 to M.J. "Jack" and Dora May Abercrombie in Tucumcari N.M.

They moved from NM to AZ, then to OK. He was proud to be an "Okie". After graduating he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a proud Veteran and Trump supporter. Dad loved fishing, hunting, traveling, fast boats, fast cars, guns, building things, and listening to music. He loved his family, friends, and fur babies, Brute and Dolly. Dad was a Christian and a life long Dallas Cowboys fan.

Dad met the love of his life, Bonnie Faye Killion in Alpine. There, they started their family and had 4 children before moving to Pecos, TX. He worked at Duval-Penzoil Sulfur mine until he retired. However, he never retired. He stayed busy with his God given talents working in construction, cars, trucks, boats, and built anything he set his mind to. Dad was funny, strong, loving, smart and there was nothing he could not fix or figure out.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Faye Abercrombie, parents M.J. "Jack" and Dora May Abercrombie, brothers: Pat, Jerry, and Gene Abercrombie, one granddaughter, Adria, and one great grandson, Lucas.

He left his legacy in his 4 children: son William T. "Bill" Abercombie Jr. of Alpine, TX, son Gary Abercrombie , daughter Leisha Abercrombie Sanchez and fiance Mike Haynes, and daughter Karen and husband Mauro Armijo, all from Odessa, TX. He was Papa to 7 grandchildren Adria, Ashley, Amy, Natasha, Jesse, Jeremy, Theresa, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Alpine Memorial Funeral Home. Viewing Nov. 18th at 10 am, service at 11 am at Alpine Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, and burial to follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Alpine, TX.

Pallbearers: Bill Abercrombie Jr., Billy Beggs, Mauro Armijo, Jesse Armijo, Jeremy Armijo, Esteban Muniz, David Spradlin, and Mike Haynes.

Thank you to the staff and Dr's at MCH, Home Hospice, Saundra from Crossland Care, and everyone that helped make the last of his earthly journey happy and peaceful.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Home Hospice or the Humane Society of Odessa.
