Albert Yates Obituary

Albert E. "Al" Yates, 93, of Bentleyville, passed away October 14, 2025, in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Southmont. Mr. Yates was born on October 5, 1931, in Donora, a son of the late Allan and Ada Hubble Yates. He graduated from Donora High School in 1949 and upon graduation he was enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Korean war as a Cpl. For his service he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with one bronze service star, the United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Following his military service, he attended the California University of Pennsylvania where he received his bachelor's and master's degree in speech pathology. He worked at the California University of Pennsylvania as the chairman of the speech pathology department for 35 years. Albert enjoyed golfing and yard work, was a sixty-year member of the Nemacolin Country Club and was a former board member there. He was also a member of the Centerville American Legion #705. Surviving are his son Jeffrey Yates (Jennifer) of Washington; sister, Gail Jericho of Donora; grandchildren: Devin Yates, Sierra Yates, Garrett Yates, Jessica Ali, Chelsea Ali and Brock Ali; and several nieces and nephews. Preceeding him in death are his wife, Edith "Posey" Yates; sisters, Betty Guiffrida and Jane Yates; and brothers: Jack, Allan and Earl Yates. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday October 20, in the Greenlee's Bentleyville Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, PA, 15314. Where Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday October 21, at with the Reverend Jamey Russell officiating. Interment will be private and held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at a later date. An online guestbook is available at www.GreenleeFuneralHome.com

I went to school with Jeff from 1st-12th grade. Anytime I visited their home, his parents were always kind and welcoming. I was sorry to hear of Albert´s passing. May God comfort all who are left to cherish his memory.
