Betty Canan Obituary

Betty Carol Canan passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the age of 90, in Harmony of Morgantown, W.Va. She was born July 28, 1935, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Glenn W. Canan and Nelle Morris Canan. Betty was a member of the Oakview Methodist Church in Waynesburg. She worked as an occupational physical therapist at the University of Alabama Birmingham and later retired as associate dean. She is survived by one brother, Neil (Phyllis) Canan of Leesburg, Fla.; one niece, Deborah Canan Ross of Jefferson; one nephew, Brad E. (Roberta) Martin of Pataskala, Ohio; one great- niece, Mia Jo Ross, and one great-nephew, Brody M. Ross, both of Jefferson; and several cousins. Deceased are one brother, Richard "Dick" W. Canan; one aunt, Betty Morris Scott; and one nephew, Brent E. Martin. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of a service, Wednesday, November 12, in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc., 197 N. Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, Shane M. Ayers, managing director. Pastor Brian Long will officiate the service. Her final resting place will be Greene County Memorial Park in Waynesburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
