Christopher Shaw, 55, of Ft. Meyers, Fla., formerly of Bethel Park and Washington, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022, in Ft. Meyers.
He was the beloved son of Gene and Patricia Shaw; devoted father of Sunny (Selwyn) LeBron, Sydney Shaw and Sammy Shaw; and brother to Billy (Laura) Shaw. He is survived by his partner, Lizz Santos, and her children, Mackenzye and Carter Santos; and his former wife, Debra Neff; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is remembered by his family and many friends for his great sense of humor and unflagging good spirits, especially in tough times where others might have been discouraged. He has left us all with countless fond memories and stories that we will share for years to come.
Chris played baseball for many years, and was a passionate, lifelong Pittsburgh Pirates fan. He had a kind heart and instinctive tendency to help others. One way he did this was to volunteer his time to the Special Olympics, where he coached golf, another lifelong passion.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 17, in Central Assembly of God Rock Student Center, 2203 W. Pike Street, Houston, PA 15342. Visitors will be received starting at 3 p.m. The memorial service will start at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Washington/Greene County Special Olympics, 154 Lacock St., Washington PA, 15301.

I'm so sorry to hear about Chris. He was truly loved and a great friend. We worked together at Washington Chevrolet for a few years.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Chris' passing. I shared an apartment with him and several other baseball teammates at 614 Darrow. Chris was Edinboro's version of David Letterman! There was never a dull moment or a day without a good laugh in the apartment or on the baseball field, when he was our assistant coach. He was always willing to dish out advice or to help anyone. My condolences to his family. May Chris rest in peace.

I met Chris on the after school bus in high school. He was so funny and nice and didn´t care that I was shy and backward. We reconnected many years later, we walked around Pittsburgh and he talked in length about each building. The love he had for his family and friends was evident through the smile on his face as he spoke. My boys and I will remember him fondly and we are all so sorry to hear of his passing.

Had the pleasure of playing summer baseball with Chris back in 1987. He was a great pitcher and such a great person to be around. Such a funny and witty guy and got to celebrate his 21st birthday with him in Quebec City. Seems like just yesterday and we just talked about that not long back. His passing is so sad and he was way too young. Want to extend sympathy and condolences to Chris´s friends and family. Definitely heartbreaking.

There are far too many memories as I've known Chris and his family practically from the day I was born.
In the 80's, he was a talented athlete and would often practice pitch for our First Bethel Methodist team (FBM Yellow). Off the field, he always appeared to be ahead of the curve when it came to comedy (Steve Martin), music (Kiss), and creative endeavors.
Not only was Chris funny and athletically gifted, but he'd often go above and beyond in supporting others around him. After high school, we reconnected at Edinboro University when he was coaching and mentoring younger athletes. Even though I was going through a bit of an 'emo artist' phase, he brought me into his social circle and was a champion for what I brought to the table (video games). His support and willingness to 'stand up for the little guy' helped me get through some pretty tough days back then for which I will always be grateful.
Chris will forever be remembered fondly and will sorely be missed by all he helped, coached, and mentored.
