D. Keith Melenyzer

D. Keith Melenyzer, 75, of Charleroi, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, in UPMC-Shadyside hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born November 25, 1941, in North Charleroi, a son of the late Russell and Muriel Franks Melenyzer.
Mr. Melenyzer was a 1959 graduate of Charleroi High School, where he twice won All-Mon Valley Conference honors in football. He continued his football career at West Virginia University, where he earned All-Southern Conference honors and co-captained the team. He received a bachelor's degree in industrial management before attending West Virginia University College of Law to obtain his juris doctorate.
He was previously a partner in Hormell, Tempest, Simmons, Bigi and Melenyzer Law Firm, with offices in Monongahela, California, Washington and Charleroi. In the nine years before his death, he was a partner in the Charleroi law firm Melenyzer-Agrafiotic LLC. He served as Fallowfield Township and California Borough solicitor.
Mr. Melenyzer was a member of Masonic Lodge 615, F&AM, Charleroi, First Presbyterian Church, California, American Bar Association, Washington County Bar Association and Pennsylvania Bar Association.
Surviving are his wife, Dr. Beverly Adamson Melenyzer; two sons, Kirk Melenyzer Sr. and wife Toni of North Charleroi and Keith Melenyzer of Philadelphia; a daughter, Kimberly Mance and husband Scott of West Newton; a stepson, George Otanic of Portland, Ore.; a sister, Ruth Horn of Independence, Mo.; six grandchildren, Kirk Melenyzer Jr. and wife Katelyn, Adam Melenyzer, Chad Melenyzer and Mikayla, Aubrie and Riley Mance; and a great-granddaughter, Paisley Melenyzer.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his stepmother, Jean Morris Melenyzer; a brother, Russell Melenyzer; and a sister, Marlene Tedesco.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday, March 25, in First Presbyterian Church, 303 4th Street, California, with a memorial service taking place at noon. Arrangements are entrusted to Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home and Cremation Service Inc., Charleroi.
In lieu of flower the family requests memorial contributions be made in Mr. Melenyzer's memory to Jefferson Hospital, Finance Department, Attention: Cardio-Pulmonary, 565 Coal Valley Road, Jefferson Hills, PA 15025.
