David Brendel Obituary

David P. Brendel, 75, of Center Township, Greene County, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 29, 2025, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born January 31, 1950, in Manchester, Conn., a son of the late Charles William and Janice Hoff Brendel, and had resided in Carnegie prior to moving to Center Township in 1983. Mr. Brendel was a 1968 graduate of Manchester (Connecticut) High School and earned an engineering degree from Valparaiso University in 1973. He was last employed as the certified energy conservationist at UPMC Shadyside/Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh for 28 years prior to retiring in 2008. Mr. Brendel was a member of the Center Township Volunteer Fire Department, where he formerly served as secretary, a member of the Greene County Fireman's Association, the Greene County Country Club, the Washington County Train Gang, and the Greene County Master Gardeners. He was a former member of the Lone Pine Golf Club. He was an avid golfer, and train enthusiast and collector. On November 26, 1983, he married Cheryl Kasiorek, who survives. Also surviving are a brother, Mark Brendel of Vernon, Conn.; a sister, Susan (Timothy) Retelle of Merrimack, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a niece, Katie Retelle. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public services. All services are under the direction of the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., Rogersville. The family requests donations be made to either the Center Township VFD, RR 21, Box 397, Rogersville, PA 15359; or the Train Gang of Washington County, 1500 West Chestnut Street, Washington, PA 15301. My heartfelt condolences to Dave's family. We had a lot of likes trains, Master Gardeners, Photography, and Engineering degrees. I remember the good times sharing with each other. Dave will be missed!
