Diane Byrd Obituary

Diane M. Byrd, 73, of Washington, died Friday, December 3, 2021, in The Washington Hospital.

She was born January 11, 1948, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Arthur DeThomas, Sr., and Adelaide Stocker DeThomas.

Mrs. Byrd graduated from Canon-McMillan High School in 1966. She worked for 12 ½ years at Bon Ton, and 9 ½ years at RCA in Meadowlands.

Mrs. Byrd enjoyed family genealogy, puzzle books, watching the Gameshow Network and Food Network, and especially spoiling her granddaughter and cat.

She was a member of Washington Alliance Church.

On April 12, 1969, she married Daniel O. Byrd, who died April 6, 2009.

Surviving are a daughter, Christina M. Hartzell (William) of Washington; granddaughter, Emma Rose Hartzell; brothers, James DeThomas, Sr., Edward DeThomas (Kathleen), Nicola DeThomas (Lisa), Frank DeThomas (Joella), Robert (DeThomas, Sr. (Connie), Richard DeThomas (Lori), Joseph DeThomas (Angela) and John DeThomas; a sister, Janice DeThomas; aunt, Rita Kizik; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Deceased are siblings, Arthur DeThomas, Jr., and Toni Rose DeThomas.

At the request of the deceased, all services were private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Washington Alliance Church, Vacation Bible School Fund, 246 Sanitarium Road, Washington, PA 15301.

Arrangements were entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., Washington
