Donald Jarvis Obituary

Donald W. Jarvis, 76, of Rogersville, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 29, 2025, in Waynesburg Nursing and Rehabilitation, after his short battle with liver cancer. He was born March 17, 1949, in Gassaway, a son of the late Howard Kermit and Mary Margaret "Maggie" Mullins Jarvis. Don was a 1967 graduate of West Greene High School, where he played basketball. He furthered his education by graduating from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1971 with a criminal justice degree. His career included working for Pepsi Cola, as a manager of a Boron service station in Washington for several years, Firstmark, and being elected to serve his community as a township supervisor for Center Township in Rogersville for 24 years. Don was a member of the Rogersville United Methodist Church. He also was a West Greene Lions Club member for 50 years and had served as its treasurer for the past 35 years. Don was a former member of the Center Township Volunteer Fire Department and coached the Rogersville Little League baseball teams. Mr. Jarvis enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening, and going to flea markets and yard sales in order to obtain 8-track tapes and cassettes while his health permitted. He enjoyed the annual town-wide yard sale that he helped start on the first Saturday of September in Rogersville. He is survived by his wife, Connie Hennen Jarvis, whom he married August 22, 1970. They lived in Indiana during his senior year at IUP then moved back to the Rogersville area after graduation. In their early marriage, they would take road trips by picking out a point of destination and just start driving, without making any reservations, and see the sites along the way. Also left to cherish his memory are his son, Bradley A. Jarvis of Rogersville; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda S. and Mark J. Batis of Khedive; along with his grandchildren, Beau Camden Batis and Ashton Ryann Batis, whom he was so proud of in their achievements; his brother, Robert L. (Sharon) Jarvis of Indiana; and nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his in-laws, Stanley E. and Kathryn Main Hennen; a brother and sister-in- law, James H. and Jeanne M. Jarvis; his stepmother, Carolyn Jarvis; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, in Kesterson- Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., P.O. Box 434, Rogersville, PA 15359, telephone: 724-499-5181. There will be a West Greene Lions Club service held during the visitation at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 4, in the funeral home, with Pastor Bruce Judy officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the West Greene Lions Club at West Greene Lions Club, c/o Lisa Durbin, 166 Beulah Ridge Road, Graysville, PA 15337.
