Donald Rush Obituary

Donald H. Rush, 91, of Washington, died Thursday, May 28, 2015, in Strabane Trails, Washington.
He was born June 2, 1923, in Washington, a son of Edgar L. Rush and Irene Solinger Rush.
A graduate of Washington High School, Mr. Rush enlisted wtih the U.S. Marines January 31, 1943. He served in Pacific Theater of Operations from November 14, 1944, to April 15, 1945. He was involved in campaigns at Iwo Jima and Volcano Islands and was wounded in action March 10, 1945. Mr. Rush was honorably discharged November 21, 1945, with a rank of Sergeant.
He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Waynesburg, where he was a Sunday school teacher and a deacon.
Mr. Rush was a member of Frazier-Simplex Rifle Range and Gideon's International. He was a pilot, golfer, glassblower and avid hunter.
On September 7, 1988, he married Wilma Fieldson, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, David L. Rush of North Carolina and Barry A. Rush (Christine) of Dayton, Ohio; two daughters, Rhonda Hinz (Denis) of Bowie, Md. and Jo Ann Watts (Frank) of Clarksville, Tenn.; a brother, Ralph Rush (Ruth) of State College; several stepchildren; several grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Harold, who was killed in action in World War II, Richard and Lloyd; his first wife, Lucille Dunlap, whom he married in July 1944; and a sister, Dorothy.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m., the time of service, Saturday, May 30 in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Private burial in Washington Cemetery will be held at a later date.

It is sad to hear of Uncle Don's passing. I'm sure he will be missed by many people. The last time I saw him was just before my dad's (Lloyd Rush) passing. Best wishes go out to the rest of my family as they mourn and celebrate his life. (My mother, Cathy Adams Rush Hausser, sends her condolences, too.)
