Eva R. Seybert entered the arms of her Savior Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength and beauty that touched every heart she met. Eva was the cherished wife of Thomas W. Seybert for 60 years and a devoted mother, whose warmth anchored her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than gathering with her loved ones. Her faith shone brightly as a past elder, trustee and deacon of the Claysville United Presbyterian Church, where she also taught Sunday school in her children's younger days. Eva often created exquisite flower arrangements that graced the sanctuary. Eva worked at Community Action Southwest (now Blueprints) for 42 years, retiring in 2014. As an outreach worker, county coordinator for the food bank and co-ops, community garden leader, and caseworker in the Head Start Program for Washington County, she lifted families with dignity and hope. A woman of remarkable grit and skill, Eva collected taxes for McGuffey School District and Buffalo Township for a decade, rehabbed homes beginning in the 1970s, and maintained rental properties in Washington until 2024-often rolling up her sleeves to handle renovations herself. She occasionally worked the Westland Auction, delighting in antiques, second-hand treasures, and the easy camaraderie of friends old and new. An avid and award- winning oil painter, Eva captured light on canvas with a talent that earned local acclaim. Her vegetable and flower gardens bloomed with the same care she gave every endeavor, yielding harvests for the body and bouquets for the soul. Eva was the fourth child of John C. and Caroline Ahrns Hehr. She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Hawkins (Ashley Ness), Patricia Bongiorno (David Curtis, deceased), and Linda Landock; a beloved brother, Charles Hehr (Belle, deceased) of Fort Myers, Fla.; a dear sister, Shirley Coleman (Duane, deceased) of Kalamazoo, Mich.; and a host of cherished nephews, nieces and extended family, who will carry her light forward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her beloved husband, Thomas W. Seybert; stepmother, Thelma Tipton Hehr; sister, Margaruite Roberts (Oakland, deceased); and brother, John Hehr (Lola). A celebration of Eva's extraordinary life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 15, in the Claysville United Presbyterian Church, 134 Wayne Street, Claysville, PA 15323. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15323. Floral deliveries will be accepted at the church from 10 a.m. until 12 noon Friday, November 14. Condolences may be left for the family by viewing the obituary at
