Giles Hubert Meighen, 87, of Waynesburg, passed away at 6:18 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2023 in a facility in Morgantown, WV. After being in declining health for the past year, he suffered a hip injury in late January and never fully recovered. Giles passed on his late mothers 120 birthday.
He was born on December 10, 1935 in Waynesburg, PA, a son of the late Charles Meighen and Elizabeth Reddinger Meighen.
Giles was a member of the St. Ann Roman Catholic Church in Waynesburg. He was a member of the Waynesburg Moose Lodge #461. Giles enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. He loved mowing the farm. Giles worked for Sutton Creamery for 10 years, and later worked for Columbia Gas PA for 34 years retiring in 1997 as a customer service representative.
His wife, Laura A. Staggers Meighen whom he married on November 24, 1956 died on February 23, 2016. Surviving are two sons: Michael (Sarah Beth) Meighen of Girard, and Pat (Jera) Meighen of Waynesburg; five grandchildren, twins Benjamin (Jennifer) Meighen and Sarah (Ben) Beason, Gordon Meighen, Morgan (Misty) Meighen and Hank Partridge; six great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Avery Meighen, Raelynn and Parker Meighen, Kadince Forkey and Crosby Beason and several nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family. Deceased is one brother, William Meighen.

I grew up spending my summers with Giles, Bill and Uncle Charley and Aunt Lee on their farm across from the pump station. I have such wonderful memories of that time and of Giles.
