Harry Piatt Obituary

Harry Piatt, 92, of Marianna, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in Washington Hospital.
He was born April 18, 1925, in Marianna, a son of the late Moses D. and Annie McAllister Piatt.
Mr. Piatt was a proud 1942 graduate of West Bethlehem High School, having to walk several miles to school each day for 12 years to complete his education.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Piatt was employed by Coen Oil Co. as a service technician for 42 years, before retiring in 1987.
He was Catholic.
Mr. Piatt was a member of American Legion Steele-Lillie Post 744, Marianna.
He enjoyed gardening, yardwork and fixing things. He could fix anything.
On April 9, 1946, he married Stella Krol, who died September 16, 2007. They celebrated 61 years of marriage together.
Surviving are three daughters, Carol Rhodes of Waynesburg, Mary Lou Nuzum (Larry) of Washington and Kathy Peduti (Frank) of Waynesburg; a son, Duane Piatt (Linda) of Marianna; seven grandchildren, Jeff Rhodes (Angie), Melissa Lesko (Dan), Amanda Faher (Matt), Jeremy Nuzum (Becky Marusic), Christine Smith (Chad), Justin Peduti and Malana Piatt; seven great-grandchildren, Dylan and Brittany Rhodes, Nicholas and Jacob Lesko and Matthew, Nathan and Michael Faher; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents and wife, are a son-in-law, Robert Rhodes; four brothers, David, James, Charles and Donald Piatt; and four sisters, Anne Jennings, Edith Piatt, Margaret Piatt and Ruth Piatt.
Mr. Piatt was the last of his immediate family.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where a prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 5. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Marianna campus, with the Rev. Paul Grunebach, senior parochial vicar, officiating. Interment will follow in Horn Cemetery, Marianna, with full military rites accorded by American Legion Steele-Lillie Post 744.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Legion Steele-Lillie Post 744 Honor Guard, P.O. Box 59, Marianna, PA 15345.
