Helen Podish Obituary

Helen Arlene Podish, 95, of Washington, died peacefully Saturday, February 10, 2024, in her home, in her daughter, Darla's arms. She was born February 23, 1928, in Eighty Four. Helen worked as a dairy farmer and was a homemaker. Gram, Darla, and Bruce loved to play bingo, gardening, canning, and playing cards and having picnics in the fields, but her favorite things to do were to spend time out on sunny days and watch the hummingbirds. She was the most honest, caring and generous woman ever, and loved to make Darla and Bruce laugh. On March 20, 1949, she married the love her life, Paul Podish, who passed away July 14, 1983. Helen is survived by a son, Bob (Diana) Podish of Sycamore; and four daughters, Cheryl (Dennis) Bell of Marianna, Vicki Podish of Washington, Carol (John) Logar of Taylorstown, and Darla (Bruce McCracken) Podish of Washington; several grandchildren and great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are three brothers, Steve, George, and Joe Pochiba; two brothers in infancy, John and Andy Pochiba; and three sisters, Mary Furda, Barb Ventresca, and Annie Briggs. The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Hahn and his wonderful staff for taking such great care of her, as well as Charlie Wonsettler, Linda Freier and Jane Deemer for all of their help and support. Helen's favorite song was "Somewhere Over The Rainbow." All services are private and entrusted to the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Directors, Inc., Charles R. Piatt, owner/supervisor, Andrew C. Piatt, director. Condolences may be expressed at www.piattandbarnhillfh.com.

To the Pochiba/Podish Family
Helen was one of the nicest, kindest and sweetest individuals you could ever meet. Her humor and caring heart endeared her to everyone she met. What a blessing she has been to her family, neighborhood and friends. Her beautiful heart especially influenced her family who learned to love as she loved. Their love and devotion to her has been a beautiful thing to witness.
Her legacy is carried on because of her influence in the lives of others.
What a privilege it has been to know her and have been her neighbor for the past 50 years.
With all our love and sympathies.
