James L. Mangin Sr.

James L. "Jim" Mangin Sr., 92, of Washington, passed away Wednesday, Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in Friendship Village of South Hills. He was born August 23, 1933, in Thomas, West Virginia, a son of the late John Mangin Sr. and Mary Verdenick Mangin. Jim attended Trinity High School and served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Tygart Valley, now Brockway Glass, over 40 years ago, where he was a supervisor. He also worked for GG&C Bus Company and was known as "Mr. Jim." Jim was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. He was also an active member of the Silver Sneakers, Alpine Club and Edwin S. Linton American Legion Post 175. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, working in the yard and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Jim loved spending time with his family and attending their sporting events and other activities. On April 4, 1954, he married Marjorie "Dale" Snyder Mangin, who survives. They were married for 66 years. Also surviving are a son, James L. (Phyllis) Mangin Jr.; two sisters, Carol Dietz, and Rita (Bob) Marra; four grandchildren, Brandon (Elyse) Mangin, Jenna (Justin Cox) Crowe, Nate (Lisa) Wagers, and Ashley (Nick) Wagers Carson; 11 great-grandchildren, Brandon Jr., Aiden and Brianna Mangin, Jacob and Garbriel Varney, Logan and Gracie Crowe, Vayla and Freya Wagers and Avery and Ella Carson; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a daughter, Kimberly (Bob) Mangin Wagers; a sister, Eleanor Ruffalo; and a brother, John Mangin. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2025, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Edwin S. Linton American Legion Post #175 and the U.S. Army.
